Article 6 Readiness Navigator

The Article 6 Readiness Navigator is a web tool that helps assess how ready a country is to participate in cooperative carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. It walks the user through a structured assessment against the requirements of Article 6.2 and 6.4, drawing on a library of more than 900 documents (NDCs, biennial transparency reports, national adaptation plans, and the underlying legal texts), and produces a step-by-step transition plan showing what is in place, in progress, or still missing, with Malaysia as a worked example.
An AI assistant supports the analysis, but every answer is grounded in the library: each claim is tied to an exact, verifiable quotation from a source document, and outputs are marked for review and confirmation by a legal expert rather than treated as authoritative. The tool was developed at Durham University’s Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy as part of the JusTN0W programme.
